Professor Andrew Boulton
Andrew Boulton is Professor of Medicine with a special interest in diabetes and its complications at the University of Manchester and Consultant Physician at Manchester Royal Infirmary. His clinical role includes inpatient supervision of patients with diabetic complications and outpatient clinics at the Manchester Diabetes Centre. Prof Boulton is a member of the British, European and American Diabetes Associations, and the Association of Physicians of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. He is also President of the Worldwide Initiative for Diabetes Education and a Co-Chair of the European Coalition for Diabetes (ECD). Prof Boulton is a Past-President of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes and represents the EASD within the membership of EURADIA.
Dr Carlo Acerini
Dr Acerini is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cambridge and an Honorary Consultant Paediatrician (Diabetes and Endocrinology), Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. His current diabetes-related research is principally centred on the development of new therapeutic approaches to the management of Type 1 diabetes in childhood and adolescence. Dr Acerini’s endocrine research is focused on co-ordinating the Cambridge Baby Growth Study, which is a prospective, longitudinal study designed to assess the impact of genetic factors and the role of the maternal in-utero environment. Dr Acerini represents the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) within the membership of EURADIA.
Mrs Anne-Marie Felton
Mrs Anne-Marie Felton is currently working within the voluntary sector, nationally and internationally. Mrs Felton is the Co-Founder and President of the Foundation of European Nurses in Diabetes (FEND) and Vice-President of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). She is also a Co-Chair of the European Coalition for Diabetes (ECD). She was a diabetes specialist nurse for over 20 years and is an Honorary Consultant at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, London, UK, and a member of the teaching faculty for the University of Surrey Roehampton/Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Diabetes MSc program. Mrs Felton has a particular interest in Therapeutic Patient Education (TPE) and represents FEND within the membership of EURADIA.
Professor Luc Martinez
Professor Luc Martinez is a former Professor of General Medicine at the University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France. He is Treasurer of Primary Care Diabetes Europe (PCDE) and Associated Editor of the PCDE journal, Primary Care Diabetes and has been Vice President of the French Society of General Medicine since 2000. After a career as a family physician in France, Prof Martinez then moved into clinical research, focusing primarily on methodological issues. He also has an interest in health assessments, focusing on patients’ attitudes, quality of life and the process of shared decision-making. Prof Martinez represents the PCDE within the membership of EURADIA.
