Sustainable Innovation in Diabetes Research:
How Europe can Rise to the Challenge
Brussels, 13 July 2016.
The EURADIA Summer Research Meeting was organised to engage the entire range of stakeholders: research funding organisations, policy makers, industry, people with diabetes, scientists and clinicians to consider the unmet challenges in diabetes research and the ways in which these can be addressed. The programme focused upon some of the priorities for scientific innovation and why the long-term impact of diabetes should be considered when developing funding and support for research.
EURADIA was able to draw upon its broad membership, which reflects the diabetes community, and present a programme of world-renowned experts, people with diabetes, and policy makers from the European institutions. A lively dialogue between speakers and participants was chaired by Dr Carlo Acerini, Dr Olivier Arnaud, Prof Cliff Bailey, and Prof Chantal Mathieu.
